I’ll be displaying some images at “Bantu Bistro” again for First Friday. Located on 7th Ave & Campbell, north of Indian School, this West African restaurant is a joy to visit. At least for me it is.
Chef Emmy and the staff welcome folks like family and the food is delicious. First Friday features a one price, “open menu”. I hate to call it “all-you-can-eat” (sounds so pig-ish), and it’s not a buffet either. Just order off the special FF menu and ahhh, I guess keep ordering off the special FF menu. Try everything on it. Then come back during the week for an expanded menu and try that too.
The Arizona Africa Drum Dance group will be there and they are fantastic. Live music from R&B band Soul Power sets a perfect mood as well.
The crowd is eclectic, friendly, diverse and international. Forget politics (please). Its all about good food, good music, good weather and good times.
Rumor has it that “Art Detour”, the big weekend for the PHX Art scene continues through Sunday. The Melrose neighborhood, where Bantu Bistro is located should be bustling all weekend. I’m going to set up on Saturday also.
