Two days to go until the 2008 version of the “Big Gig” gets underway at Milwaukee’s lakefront. The festival is recognized by Guinness World Records as the “World’s Largest Music Festival,” attracting 900,000 people each year to Henry Maier Festival Park, a 75-acre setting downtown on Lake Michigan. The 10 day, 11 stage, 12 hours a day music fest features performers from almost all genres, plus comedy.
I’ve probably only missed one since I witnessed the infamous ’72 George Carlin “Seven Words You Can’t Say” performance (R.I.P.).
If you’ve visited my “images” site (here), I have photos from last year’s performances of The Wailers, Femi Kuti, and King Ibu w/Lucky Diop.
Some of the performers I am looking forward to photograph this year….
Besides the great music there is an amazing array of food, along with sports demonstrations, children’s activities, and did I mention the food?
We’re just crossing our fingers that we won’t need an ark building workshop too.
…instead of this…
