Storm Running

Here's the storm I outran yesterday from starbucks about 10 miles from my ma's house near West Bend, WI. Employees and customers from the stores were outside taking pictures. It reminded me of the alien ships coming on from Independence Day.

Change your mind?

There it is. Below, in the previous post. The ongoing cost of war. This war. This debacle, quagmire. This Vietnam revisited. You think we could have found a way, a more peaceful way, to spend that cash?  Maybe solve MOST of the hunger, medical, economic problems here AND in the most needed regions? Talk about a USA public relations coup. We could have been…

A Break in the Action

Where am I? What day is it? Actually, I am quite sure of all-of-the-above. But we did stop traveling for 36 hours or so. After about 3900 miles, here we are near Clarksville, TN, very close to the Kentucky border. We'll be taking a ride to Fort Campbell, which I hear is pretty vacant as most of the men & women have been…

T-minus

T-minus 78hrs. Let the dance begin. A finely choreographed routine of packing and preparing for 7 weeks on the road. Starting with the basics; establish a central gathering area and setting aside clothes we can wear that are NOT going on the trip, we're underway. Expectations are for an initial overload, but then the cutbacks, justifications and for-or-against arguments will result in a lean-mean traveling…

Driving

You know what frightens me and threatens my way of life? Well, it never was the folks in Iraq or Iran or China or the Soviets back in the day. It's not Hamas, the Tamil Tigers or even global warming. It's teenage drivers. Everyday this summer 17 teenage drivers will die in cars. Here's what the CDC (Center for Disease Control & Prevention) has to…

We’re Cruisin’

April ends with birthdays and pollen, God Bless You.  Things got heated, I broke my vow, so the A/C is on.  But the sun is out before six,  and the Suns were out before May. That's Amare. now Legoland, and the PCH. And then, A1A ahhhhh we're cruisin'

Thought for the Day

One of Gandhi's most illuminating observations was that, "there is more to life than increasing its speed". simplify

Name That Speaker

I stumbled on some caustic quotes that just have to be addressed. As President Bush puts it, just "who's with us and who's against us?" We simply have to rid ourselves of those that won't tow the party line, right? This guy should get creamed by those moral stalwarts at Fox; O'Reilly, Hannity and Greta, after spewing such anti-American speech. Check it out... "I could never…

Penn Center in South Carolina

Penn Center, was founded in 1862 as one of the country’s first schools for freed slaves and used more than 100 years later by Dr. King as a retreat center for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. “I am still searching myself, I don’t have all the answers,” Dr. King told his staff at Penn in 1966, when they were discussing the next step…
