God’s Reputation

So the McCain/Palin ticket finally decided to slow down the visceral rhetoric that they were spewing this past week. This crossing-the-line hate-mongering without evidence has incited midwest crowds to boiling points reminiscent of 20th century lynch mobs.

It was inexcuseable.

Claiming Barack Obama’s “association” with William Ayers is “tip-of-the-iceberg” evidence is so ludicrous as to be insulting to rational thinking Americans.

As Obama frequently points out, he was eight years old when Ayers helped found the Weather Underground and has repeatedly condemned the terrorist actions committed by Ayers and his fellow Weathermen.

Obama and Ayers were members of the boards on the Woods Fund of Chicago, and the Annenberg Foundation. These boards, especially the Annenberg include GOP members. Where is the outrage about them?

Ayers contributed $200 to Obama’s re-election fund to the Illinois State Senate in April 2001. They lived within a few blocks of each other in the Hyde Park section of Chicago.

Is that the smoking gun? Two hundred bucks, the continuously mentioned “meet & greet” at Ayers house, and the location, location, location.

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley called Ayers “a valued member of the Chicago community,” and that city gave Ayers its Citizen of the Year award in 1997 for his work on the Annenberg project.

But let’s take a look at who we might really be afraid of. How about a “mainstream”, “Christian” church pastor who yesterday gave the invocation before a McCain rally with these nuggets, straight from The Crusades…

Ladies & Gentlemen I give you the Rev. Arnold Conrad, past pastor of the Grace Evangelical Free Church…..

“I would also pray, Lord, that your reputation is involved in all that happens between now and November, because there are millions of people around this world praying to their god — whether it’s Hindu, Buddha, Allah — that his opponent wins, for a variety of reasons,” Conrad said.

“And Lord, I pray that you would guard your own reputation, because they’re going to think that their god is bigger than you, if that happens. So I pray that you will step forward and honor your own name with all that happens between now and Election Day”.

Did he call out his god vs. other gods?
