Bono of U2 and founder of ONE
I joined “One.org” and “join(Red)” years ago. Founded by U2’s front man, Bono, these truly grassroots organizations fight poverty and AIDS around the world.
In the “What We Do” section of One it states…
At ONE, we achieve change through advocacy. We hold world leaders to account for the commitments they’ve made to fight extreme poverty, and we campaign for better development policies, more effective aid and trade reform. We also support greater democracy, accountability and transparency to ensure policies to beat poverty are implemented effectively.
Tomorrow (Tuesday 10/20), U2 brings their tour to Phoenix for a stadium show (opening act “Black-eyed Peas”- are you kidding me?!), and I am going to be there!
I was chosen (fooled ’em again?) to be a volunteer to work the ONE booth, signing up new members and talking about ONE.
This is going to be fun, informative, proactive, entertaining and maybe monumental.
The email I received from ONE says that after the show starts we will get to watch it and there will be “a special surprise”. My guess is one or more of the following… A) good seats, B) backstage, C) meet Bono.
